Virtual theological education: Mapping, diagnostics and perspectives

Resumo: This study makes a diagnosis of offers of bachelor's degree in theology in the modality of distance education, aiming to outline a profile of accredited courses and their didactic-pedagogical and curricular proposals, as well as to try to identify, in a wide sense, the challenges and the main difficulties of the institutions as well as the identity of the course offered. So, at first, the study systematizes data acquired by querying the e-MEC system and by information disclosures by the program coordination. Secondly, the study evaluates the information, establishing a dialogue with theorists and agents in the area, indicating perspectives and considerations for the offer of theology in virtual modality. At the end, the study indicates that theology and distance education are mixed historically and that the relationship between both still displays experimental features. Given the numerous challenges that emerge in the contemporary scenario, related to the structure of the course, the production of content, the qualification of the professors and the profile of the student, a broader issue stands here for: the characteristics of the theology that we aim to consolidate in Brazilian scientific scenario.

Assim, num primeiro momento, o estudo sistematiza os dados adquiridos por meio da consulta ao sistema e-MEC e às informações divulgadas pelas coordenações de cursos. No segundo momento, o estudo realiza uma avaliação das informações dispostas, por meio do diálogo com teóricos e agentes da área, indicando perspectivas, ponderações, para o ensino de teologia na modalidade virtual. Ao final, este estudo indica que a Teologia e a Educação a Distância se confundem historicamente e que a relação entre ambas ostenta características ainda experimentais.
