Resumo: The changes occurred during productive processes overthrew the Taylorist-Fordist paradigm, which generated work stations and rigourisly framed them to produce results in a rigid and stable world. Flexibility and instability are the main characteristics of the current scenario. In order to produce results in this environment, innovative companies have adopted the model of individual competence for its compatibility with the nowadays settings. Notwithstanding, many companies still remains attached to the Fordist model of description and job analysis. This paper aims to establish if the Fordist concept of position is aligned with the model of people management proposed for the new times. The bibliographical study and research found indicated that the current concept of position is not aligned with the model of people management proposed for the new times, thus showing that to people management by competence has been evident as an issue to be resolved by the Administration.

The bibliographical study and research found indicated that the current concept of position is not aligned with the model of people management proposed for the new times, thus showing that to people management by competence has been evident as an issue to be resolved by the Administration.
