Colymers based on styrene and divinylbenzene synthesized in the presence of DEHPA-I: structural characterization

Summary: Styrene-divinylbenzene copolymers were synthetized by suspension polymerization in the presence of –diethylhexylphosphoric acid (DEPHA) and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) as diluents for the monometers. The influence of DEPHA/MEK ratio end dilution degree on the formation of porous structure of the copolymers was investigated by surface area, pore volume, pore size distribution and apparent density. It was found that 50% DEHPA in the diluent mixture always leds to macroporous sorbents whatever the MEK content.
