Resumo: Tumors of the superior pulmonary sulcus (Pancoast tumors) are usually non-small-cell lung cancers involving the pulmonary apex. Due to their location they are clinically unique and present limitations for surgical resection. Recent advances in the management of such tumors include combined-modality therapy with preoperative concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy as well as new surgical approaches allowing radical and complete resection. This has improved the treatment outcomes and prognosis in patients with this clinical condition.
