Aspects of the Crisis of the Institutional Program in the Colégio Pedro II (1931-1945)

Resumo: The aim of this article is to show some results of a doctoral research in Education, in which we defend that the ‘institutional program’ of the Colégio Pedro II went through a crisis that culminated in the loss of its patronage. The time cut adopted is the period between 1931 and 1945, marked by the Campos and Capanema Reforms, which consolidated the process of institutionalization of Brazilian secondary education. The main theoretical reference was Dubet (2002), who built the notion of ‘institutional program’. The methodology used was the analysis of the legislation on the educational system and the sources found in the Documentation and Memory Nucleus of the Colégio Pedro II and in the Center for Research and Documentation of Contemporary History of Brazil of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

Se investigó en el estudio el periodo entre 1931 y 1945, marcado por las Reformas Campos y Capanema, responsables por consolidar el proceso de institucionalización de la enseñanza secundaria brasileña. El principal referencial teórico elegido fue Dubet (2002), y el concepto desarrollado por el autor de ‘programa institucional’. La metodología utilizada fue el análisis de la legislación relacionada al sistema educativo del periodo y de las fuentes encontradas en el Núcleo de Documentación y Memoria del Colégio Pedro II y en el Centro de Pesquisa y Documentación de Historia Contemporánea de la Fundação Getúlio Vargas. O objetivo do artigo é apresentar parte dos resultados de uma pesquisa de doutorado em Educação, na qual defendemos que o ‘programa institucional’ do Colégio Pedro II passou por uma crise que culminou na perda do seu caráter de instituição padrão para o ensino secundário brasileiro. O recorte temporal adotado é o período entre 1931 e 1945, marcado pelas Reformas Campos e Capanema, que consolidaram o processo de institucionalização do ensino secundário brasileiro. O principal referencial teórico adotado foi Dubet (2002), que construiu a noção de ‘programa institucional’.
