Resumo: This research aims to ethnographically study the circuits of exchange that are established between incarnated and disincarnated agents in the activities of a spiritist center in the city of São Carlos (state of São Paulo). Through the description of what is done on a daily basis within a spiritist institution, the analysis seeks to apprehend the circuits of gifts and hierarchical processes involved in lectures, psychic sessions, prayers, passes, study groups and charitable practices, focusing on the effects of relationships thus established and its centrality in the construction of the spiritist notion of person. Spiritist practitioners establish their religious experiences around the movement of energies, words, spirits, knowledge, healing, feelings, messages, objects, etc. Such sets of spiritual and material goods constantly traverse the planes of existence (physical and spiritual) and evolutionary layers that make up the kardecist view of the cosmos. This image of the universe is organized in terms of hierarchical levels, a principle that also guides relationships between incarnated and disincarnated actors on Earth. The discussion of these aspects, alongside with a reflection on reciprocity and debt, aims to offer an understanding of spiritism as a system – morally and cosmologically – for circulation, enabling a relational and dynamic perspective of the daily religious experiences in the spiritist center.

Através da descrição do que se faz cotidianamente no interior de uma instituição espírita, a análise busca apreender os circuitos de dádivas e processos de hierarquização envolvidos nas palestras, sessões mediúnicas, orações, passes, grupos de estudo e práticas de caridade, enfocando os efeitos das relações assim estabelecidas e sua centralidade na construção da noção espírita de pessoa. Os espíritas estabelecem suas experiências religiosas em torno do movimento de energias, palavras, espíritos, conhecimentos, curas, sentimentos, mensagens, objetos, etc. Tais conjuntos de bens espirituais e materiais atravessam constantemente os planos de existência (físico e espiritual) e faixas evolutivas que compõem a visão kardecista do cosmos. Essa imagem do universo é organizada em termos de níveis hierárquicos, uma dinâmica que também orienta as relações entre encarnados e desencarnados na Terra. A discussão desses aspectos, junto a uma reflexão sobre reciprocidade e dívida, visa oferecer uma compreensão do espiritismo enquanto um sistema voltado – moral e cosmologicamente – para a circulação, possibilitando uma perspectiva relacional e dinâmica das experiências religiosas cotidianas do centro espírita.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)FAPESP: 2015/22979-4porUniversidade Federal de São CarlosCâmpus São CarlosPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Antropologia Social - PPGASUFSCarCirculaçãoEspiritismoAntropologia da ReligiãoHierarquiaPessoaReciprocidadeCirculationSpiritismAnthropology of religionHierarchyPersonReciprocityCIENCIAS HUMANAS::ANTROPOLOGIA::ANTROPOLOGIA URBANADádivas de além-túmulo: circulação e hierarquia no espiritismo KardecistaGifts From Beyond The Grave: Circulation and Hierarchy in Kardecist Spiritisminfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisOnlineinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFSCARinstname:Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR)instacron:UFSCARORIGINALDissertação - Allan Wine Santos Barbosa.pdfDissertação - Allan Wine Santos Barbosa.pdfapplication/pdf1337218https://{{ getenv "DSPACE_HOST" "repositorio.ufscar.br" }}/bitstream/ufscar/10640/1/Disserta%c3%a7%c3%a3o%20-%20Allan%20Wine%20Santos%20Barbosa.pdf9c759b9e714157d458a8fa074d2f2d78MD51LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
