Bestiário de Myriam Fraga: metáforas para a condição feminina

Taking into consideration the problematic point of feminine gender in its contemporary identity sense, this dissertation analyses some images of mythological animals and monsters on the poetic discourse of Myriam Fraga, tracing the way how those elements transfigure the woman living through a metaphorical process of woman-animal and animal-woman making evident the female conflict in its submissive and insurrectional ambiguity. The selected poems apply to a work of Fraga, entitled “Poesia Reunida” (2008), that substantiates some questions that are associated to the gender relations through animals and bestial images. Therefore, the analysis was realized in the light of theories that dealt about the animal symbology as well in Chevalier & Gheerbrant (2009), Bruce-Mitford (2001), Lexicon (1990), and also in the concept of monstrosity by Bellei (2000) and Jeha (2007), plus reflections that involve questions of feminine literacy and feminism on the basis of studies like Auad (2003), Scott (1996), Duarte (1997) and Sadlier (1997). The resizing of human relationships verified in the poetry of Fraga makes effort in its ambiguity of the return to the myth, and the metamorphosis of the social female realities into experiences of identification with monsters.
