A região de Trombetas possui grande potencial arqueológico, com sítios onde ocorre uma diversidade de material cerâmico e lítico, sítios em diversos ambientes. A cerâmica desta região foi classificada sistematicamente nas décadas de 1950 e 1980 por Hilbert e Hilbert, no qual definiram duas ocupações identificadas como Konduri, pertencente à Tradição Incisa e Ponteada, e Pocó relacionada à Tradição Borda Incisa. O Sítio Cipoal do Araticum encontra-se em área de interflúvio com uma extensa e profunda área de terra preta arqueológica onde foram identificados três sequências de ocupação. A primeira entre os níveis de 80 a 100 cm (2850 a.C até 250 A.D), a segunda dos níveis 40 a 70 cm(240 e 1390 A.D.) e a última de 30 cm até a superfície (990 a 1440±100 A.D). As características que diferenciaram as ocupações foram as variações na coloração do solo, ocorrência do material cerâmico e lítico e as datações, entretanto, analisando-se a cerâmica dessas duas tradições verifica-se uma continuidade de vários elementos técnicos, dessa forma foi questionado se a variação entre as duas cerâmicas representa diferentes tradições tecnológicas. Considerando que a distinção entre a cerâmica Konduri e Pocó foi estabelecida através de critérios quantitativos e os elementos técnicos usados para essa classificação foram considerados de forma isolada, trabalha-se com a hipótese que a diferença existente poderia significar mudanças na tecnologia de uma mesma tradição. Para esse estudo foi selecionado o material cerâmico das sondagens e, sendo definido o perfil cerâmico das três ocupações. Essa perspectiva permite definir o processo de produção da cerâmica a partir dos elementos técnicos, morfológicos, funcionais e do design. Neste sentido pretende-se ainda discutir a questão se o sítio Cipoal do Araticum foi ocupado por grupos de diferentes tradições ou reocupado pelo mesmo grupo em momentos distintos.CNPqThis paper presents the study and characterization of the ceramic technology in the site PAOR-127: Cipoal do Araticum, located in the region of Trombetas, State of Pará-Brazil. This region has great archaeological potential, with sites where a variety of ceramic and lytic materials occur- sites in diverse environments. The ceramic of this region was classified systematically in the 1950s and 1980s by Hilbert and Hilbert, which defined two occupations identified as Konduri belonging to the Incised and punctated Rim Tradition, and Pocó related to Incised Rim Tradition. The site Cipoal do Araticum is in a interfluvial zone with an extensive and deep area of archaeological black sand where three sequences of occupations were identified. The first is between 80-100 cm levels (2850 BC to 250 A.D), the second 40-70 cm (240 and 1390 AD) and the last 30 cm to the surface (990-1440 ± 100 A.D). The characteristics that differentiate these occupations were variations in soil color, occurrence of the ceramic and lytic material and dating. However, analyzing the ceramics of these two traditions, there is a permanence of various technical elements, so it was asked if the variation between the two ceramics represent different technological traditions. Assuming that the distinction between the Konduri and Pocó ceramic was established through quantitative criteria and the technical elements used for this classification were taken into account in isolation, we work with the hypothesis that the difference could mean changes in the technology of the same tradition. For this study the ceramic material for the survey was selected, setting also the ceramic profile of the three occupations. This perspective allows to define the process of ceramic production from the technical, morphological, functional and design elements.
