ENERGY INDEPENDENCE OF A PIG FARM THROUGH TO THE USE OF BIOGAS

Summary: A great problem in the national swine farms is the production of swine manure. The biodigestor can allow the use of the energy contained in the biogas produced, for electric power generation and thermal, and making possible, the treatment of the manure, solving the odor problem and of bactericidal load of the residuary water. In the present article study of thepotential of production of biogas of swine farms, seeking its energy independence through the substitution of conventional energy (LPG and electric energy from utilities) for energy of the biogas for the production of hot water for bath, for cooking, heating and climatization of pigs and sows, generation of electricity. Estimate was made of the revenue from the sale of Certified Emission Reductions (tCO2eq.). The case study was done with data from a farm with approximately 570 sows. The scenario analysis showed that it is possible to supply the energy demands of the property there is surplus electricity that can be negotiated with the utilities or Trading Chamber.
