Resumo: This objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of 12 lines of beans in order to obtain segregating populations with potential for extracting lines with high grain yield, resistance to major pathogens that attack the culture, erect plant architecture and black grains accepted commercially. Thus, these 12 lines were placed into two groups (G1 and G2 ) to compose a partial diallel in a 5 x7 design. Group 1 was composed of black grain and erect plant architecture while the second group was composed of Carioca bean lines and resistant to the main fungal diseases that occur in beans crop. The thirtyfive F1 hybrids and 12 parents were assessed in the 2012 winter harvest. A randomized block design with three replications and three 1-metter row plot were used. Severity of angular leaf spot (in the field), the plant architecture and grain yield were all evaluated. Data were analyzed according to the partial diallel model proposed by Geraldi and Miranda Filho (1988) using parents and F1's. Regarding severity of angular leaf spot, significant effects were observed in both overall combining ability of groups 1 (OCA1) and 2 (OCA2) and specific combining ability (SCA) of hybrids between the groups. Three lines of Group 1 and three lines of Group 2 stood out for frequency of angular spot resistant alleles: Xamego , BRS Valente and TB 94-01 and BRS Estilo, VC 20 and CNFC 10720, respectively. Considering the architecture of plants, only CGC of Group 1 had a significant effect, especially TB 94-01, L 20 and BRS Valente. As for grain yield, significant effects of overall combining ability of group 2 (OCA2) and specific combining ability (SCA) were found. Lines BRS Estilo and CNFC 10720 stood out for frequency of favorable alleles. Additive effects were predominant in the genetic control of three characters. The crossings BRS Valente / BRS Estilo and BRS Valente / CNFC 10720 stand out in obtaining potential populations for extracting of promising lines for resistance to angular leaf spot, erect plant architecture and grain yield.
