The present work aims to propose the use of a methodology for identifying hazards and risk mapping in the distribution networks of water for human consumption with the application of techniques of Geographic Information Systems and multicriteria analysis. The case study was developed in Viçosa - MG, under the project 'Water Safety Plan' underway in the same municipality. We selected the following variables that could be hazards or hazardous events: water quality parameters (data from routine monitoring of SAAE-Viçosa), pressure on the network, record of consumer complaints and records of intermittency in the supply of water. To obtain the pressure map of the network was used EPANET program, developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). For the spatial information was used ArcView program. All these information were imported into the IDRISI program to perform the analysis and generation of multi-hazard map. The maps were generated considering three 'scenery', involving different combinations of parameters selected as indicative of danger. The results obtained in the three 'scenery' were similar, prevailing levels of hazards/risks low throughout the area examined. The results suggest that the proposal has a potential tool for the application, considering the spatial data for monitoring water quality individually, or in an integrated way in the form of 'Water Quality Index', or when considering qualitative variables, such as the records of complaints and intermittency.
