Resumo: The present study aimed to characterize the participants A.M.A Project - Adapted Motor Activity. Through field research, we interviewed 88 participants with disabilities A.M.A Project. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The results stated that 35% of participants have a physical disability, and the water activities practiced by 47%. The reasons mentioned for membership in the project was primarily the desire to perform physical activities, since the benefits relate to improved quality of life. It is understood that extension projects are the spaces for the development and construction of new knowledge, which should also include the participation of people with disabilities.

O presente estudo apresenta a caracterização de um projeto de extensão universitária, desenvolvido pelo curso de Educação Física da Universidade Paranaense (UNIPAR), o qual atende várias pessoas com necessidades educacionais especiais (NEE) do município de Toledo - PR e região, através de Atividades Aquáticas Recreativas, Natação, Capoeira, Tênis de Mesa, Parabadminton e Handebol em Cadeira de Rodas. Caracterizar os participantes do projeto e verificar a percepção dos mesmos em relação aos efeitos promovidos pelas atividades motoras adaptadas ofertadas também fazem parte dos objetivos deste trabalho. Por meio de uma pesquisa de campo, descritiva e com delineamento transversal, foram entrevistados 88 participantes do projeto, todos com NEE. O instrumento utilizado para coleta de dados foi um questionário semi-estruturado, composto por 18 questões abertas e fechadas. De acordo com os participantes, a percepção sobre os benefícios proporcionados pelo Projeto AMA (Atividade Motora Adaptada) foi bastante significativa. Os relatos indicaram incremento no desenvolvimento das habilidades motoras de 100% dos participantes; estímulo para a prática de atividade física (89%); melhora na qualidade de vida e a saúde (78%), promoção da autoestima (77%); otimizou a capacidade de lidar com problemas e com o estresse (75%) e melhoria na execução das Atividades de Vida Diária (51%). Por meio destes resultados, percebe-se a importância das ações desenvolvidas pelo Projeto AMA sobre diversos aspectos da vida e saúde de pessoas com NEE.AbstractThis This research presents the characterization of an university extension project, developed by Physical Education course at Paraná University (UNIPAR), which meets several people with special educational needs (SEN) in the city of Toledo - PR and region through Recreational Water activities, Swimming, Capoeira, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Handball and Parabadminton. The objectives of this study are characterizing the project participants and check their perception regarding the effects promoted by adapted motor activities offered. Through field research, descriptive and cross-sectional design 88 participants were interviewed, all with SEN. The instrument used for data collection was a semi-structured questionnaire consisting of 18 open and closed questions. According to project participants, a perception of the benefits provided by AMA (Adapted Motor Activity) was significant. Participants reports indicated a motor skills development increase (100%); physical activity stimulus (89%); quality of life and health improvement (78%), self-esteem promotion (77%); the ability to handle problems and stress optimized (75%) and daily living activities performance improvement (51%).
