Resumo: The birds compose a group of vertebrates of easy observation and identification for biological studies, highly diversified with endemic and widely distributed species occupying biomes such as caatinga, present mostly in northeastern Brazil. Its interrelation with the semiarid environment provides information on survive strategies, evolutionary process, ecological and physiological aspects still poorly studied, and are indicators of environmental quality and biodiversity. The objective on this work is to understand the spatial and temporal distribution of birds in semiarid region, observing their diversity as well as their responses to temporal fluctuations. To do so, captures with mist-nets were performed, sampling listen points and the use of MacKinnon lists method. Sampling was conducted in two study areas with different phytophysiognomicals characteristics. In order to increase knowledge of the ecology of bird communities of the Catimbau National Park, this paper presents new contributions for this important conservation area of the caatinga biome.

Sua inter-relação com o ambiente semiárido fornece informações relativas às estratégias de sobrevivência, ao processo evolutivo, aspectos ecológicos e fisiológicos ainda pouco estudados, além de serem indicadoras da qualidade ambiental e da biodiversidade. Objetiva-se nesse trabalho compreender a distribuição espaço-temporal das aves no semiárido, observando-se sua diversidade bem como suas respostas às flutuações temporais. Para tanto, foram realizadas capturas com redes de neblina, amostragem por pontos de escuta e utilização do método das listas de MacKinnon. As coletas foram realizadas em duas áreas de estudo com diferentes características fitofisionômicas.
