We conducted a long term study to analyze the interactions between commom marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) and birds in a fragmente of Atlantic Forest. Observations were carried out in two phases. The first comprised the period August 2007 to April 2009 and the second phase was conducted from July 2010 to March 2011. Were viewed a total of 124 interaction among marmosets and bird species Tangara cayana, Pipra rubrocapilla, Pitangus sulphuratus, Turdus rufiventris and Turdus leucomelas. The interactions involving low flying by the birds with physical contact or not physical contact with the marmoset. When there was contact, understood that the touch of the chest or even the bird pecking in relation to the marmoset. We obtained significant differences in the amount of interactions between the rainy and dry seasons, as well as between the tree layers. We found that the higher frequency of interactions occurred between birds and the entire group of marmosets, plus there is a significant difference between dense and non dense areas. In our study, non denses areas had a considerable amount of fruit trees, which were seen serving food for thrushes and the marmosets. Therefore, the interactions may have occurred in a number considerably higher in these areas due to the presence of nests, as also by a possible competition for food resources.
