O ruído na ambiência do alojamento conjunto em uma maternidade de referência para gestação de alto risco: percepção das usuárias e dos profissionais de enfermagem

The rooming-in, as a place to assist pregnant women, postpartum women and newborns, are environments which mix human voices, beats and ringtonesof technological developments. These conditions can impair hearing and general health of users and health professionals. Objective: To measure noise levels and investigating the perception and the effects on the health of nursing professionals and users of a reference high-risk pregnancy maternity in the city of Curitiba-PR. Methods: This is a quantitative study, which conducted the measurement of environmental noise levels and assessed the perception of users and nurses about the harmful effects on general health and hearing. The noise was measured within the normal routine of the service, in the morning, afternoon and evening with the meter Bruel and Kjaer Integrator brand type 2230 calibrated compensating "A". The perception of noise and its effects on overall health and hearing was raised through interviews with professionals and users. Results: The noise levels in all areas of the rooming-in are above the recommended in literature. According to ABNT NBR-10152/2000, the noise levels of a hospital ward should not exceed 45 dB(A). In-room care of the newborn without the presence of patients and staff it was found at night the minimum noise of 45.6 dB(A). At the nursing station it was found peak of 76.5 dB(A) in the morning. This study haven't found noise levels above 85 dB(A), so the environment of this study is not considered unhealthy for the hearing, in accordance with Brazilian Labor Laws. It was found that users and nurses are exposed daily to noise sources arising from the work process of the health team, the crying of babies, the behavior of users and staff and external noise of motherhood. Both nurses and users believe that noise impairs the health and recovery of patients, however suggest actions that can help minimize the effects of noise in the AC. Conclusions: The study indicated that all places were with noise levels above those recommended. It was unanimous among the users that the noise interferes with the AC‟s ambience and affects daily activities and has harmful effects on workers, pregnant women, postpartum women and newborns.
