It is known that Brazilian legislation on occupational safety and health requires that companies prepare a significant number of documents, which include service orders, inventories, reports and specific safety and health programs for workers. Due to this diversity of documents, many employers and employees in the administrative sector, who do not have specific training in accident prevention and occupational diseases, end up having difficulties in using these documents, especially when they should extract environmental information to inform social security about the worker's right to receive special retirement benefit, because this professional has worked in activities, respecting the contribution period of 15, 20 or 25 years, in the presence of the agents listed in attachment IV of Decree 3,048/99. This problem was intensified after the publication of Normative Instruction no 99 in 2003, which allowed the replacement of the Technical Report on Working Environment Conditions (LTCAT) by other documents, in order to serve as a basis for filling the Social Work Profile (PPP), which is a document of the social security legislation whose purpose is the communication of environmental data that characterized the right to require special retirement. Because of all of these problems, in this work, a study was conducted in order to clarify the characteristics and importance of key documents relating to safety and health at work. Additionally, it was discussed the fact that even if social security legislation allows the replacement of LTCAT by other documents, it should not be done, because it brings in a lot of inconvenience for businesses, mainly because of filling PPP with incorrect data, and also for incorrect interpretation of information from other forms, that generates in many times misleading on identifying a special condition, which causes by consequence a debt for the company when depositing a wrong contribution of the occupational accident insurance (SAT) aliquot.
