Resumo: | Ozone (O3) is one of the main pollutants that contribute to air quality deterioration in urban areas. It is a secondary pollutant, produced in the atmosphere by photochemical reactions, in a way that its formation depends both on meteorological and chemical factors. This work aims to analyze the interannual variability of O3 concentrations at the Sao Paulo metropolitan region between 2005 and 2015, isolating the contribution of chemical factors using the Kolmogorov-Zurbenko filter. Results indicate that the variability of meteorological conditions explained from 39 to 52% of O3 concentration variance during the study period. O3 concentration peaks in the long-term time series component were mainly associated with chemical factors, associated with changes in the emission pattern of precursors. Years with high O3 concentrations occurred simultaneously with increases on the gasoline usage relative to ethanol. |
