Adrenalina digital font: A project inspired by the visual culture of the Brazilian pixação

Resumo: Pixação in Brazil is a form of urban visual expression. It makes use of monochrome letters in unauthorized locations to cause visual impact. When prepared by gangs or individuals who organize socially happens to be called pixação with "x". The mode experienced by social groups of young people in São Paulo produces a style letter that is known as pixo or straight tag, something endemic to São Paulo. The Adrenalina digital font is a project started in 2003 and completed in 2014. The project was created from a street culture and seeks to preserve the design characteristics of this phenomenon, tools and materials used. The purpose of this article is to show the method of creation of digital font Adrenalina and its development as a product.

Quando elaborada por gangues ou indivíduos que se organizam socialmente passa a ser chamada de pixação, com “x”. A modalidade vivenciada por grupos sociais de jovens em São Paulo produz um estilo de letra que é conhecido como pixo ou tag reto, algo endêmico de São Paulo e único no mundo. A fonte digital Adrenalina é um projeto iniciado em 2003 e concluído em 2014. O projeto foi criado a partir de uma cultura das rua e procura preservar as características gráficas desse fenômeno por meio de uma solução que evidencie a condição que se submete o interventor ao pixar, as ferramentas e materiais utilizados e a variação de suportes que recebem as letras.
