Resumo: Current research investigates whether the intake of alcoholic beverages among illicit drug users was the entry for other psychoactive illicit drugs. Analysis integrates bibliographic reviews on the theme which theoretically foreground data. Research was authorized by the Permanent Committee in Ethics in Research of Unicesumar and participants gave their formal acceptance, after duly informed. Questionnaires were applied with the consent of the participating people and field research was undertaken in the auditorium of a meeting place in Maringá PR Brazil. Data collection was undertaken by sample statistic method with the application of a 14-questions closed quantitative questionnaire (Annex A). Questionnaires were applied to thirty subjects who had used other psychoactive illicit drugs, besides alcohol, and participated in a support group for drug-dependent people. Results showed that most drug-dependent people consider that alcoholic beverages were the entrance for the use of other psychoactive illicit drugs.
