O objetivo neste artigo é analisar a estrutura e a dinâmica fundiária de dois municípios representativos das regiões da serra sul-rio-grandense e da mata pernambucana, cujas economias estavam voltadas para a agricultura. Na primeira, ocorria o predomínio da lavoura de alimentos, enquanto, na segunda, as lavouras canavieiras voltavam-se à exportação. Por meio da análise comparativa, procuramos mostrar o rápido fracionamento da estrutura fundiária da mata norte em Pernambuco. No caso de Taquari-RS, o incremento da colonização e da agricultura levou à expansão da fronteira fundiária sobre as terras públicas e também incentivou a ação de especuladores. Em Nazaré da Mata-PE, ainda é possível perceber, a partir das declarações paroquiais, a diversificação da agricultura. This paper aims to analyse the agrarian structure and dynamics of two Brazilian representative municipal districts, located respectively in a mountain range of Rio Grande do Sul and in the Atlantic Forest in Pernambuco, both of them economically characterized by agriculture. The first one used to concentrate itself on food production; whereas the second one used to place fragmentation of the agrarian structure of the northern Atlantic Forest in Pernambuco. In Taquari-RS, the development of colonization and agriculture increased the agrarian boundaries to the public lands, as well as stimulated speculation. In Nazaré da Mata-PE, it is still possible to realize, from the priests declarations, that agriculture is diversified.
