Resumo: This study investigated how the culture of innovation influenced an idea generation program (PGI). The method used was Case Study and the unit of analysis investigated was a PGI of a Brazilian commercial bank, under the lens of the Evolutionary Theory of Innovation. The results indicate chat PGI is configured as a creative innovation hub and has a mixed model, with characteristics of the Japanese and American models, contributing to the literature. It is executed from the parameterization, collection, selection, development and recognition phases of the implemented ideas. The results also indicate that PGI was restructured to support the consolidation of mobile technologies and the advancement of digital banking, notably in response to the emergence of fintechs. The PGI fostered intra-entrepreneurship and the relationship between the operational and managerial levels of the organization and stimulated the creation of innovation nuclei, with the objective of managing unimplemented ideas and speeding up the implementation of departmental innovations, revealing the current strategic importance of innovation for the company. The results confirm the relationship between the culture of innovation and the existence of PGI. The determinants of the culture of innovation - strategy, structure, support and stimulus to innovation - influence PGI with greater intensity. The determinant communication presented managerial limitations and an improvement point was identified. PGI has already generated over eighteen thousand ideas and the results are both technological, from incremental innovations in products and processes, as well as organizational, in addition to strengthening the culture of innovation. One of the implemented process innovations generated gains of approximately five billion reais. It is possible to conclude that the PGI allows to generate technological innovations, predominantly of processes and at an incremental level and fulfills the objectives of maintaining an internal environment receptive to changes and focused on operational efficiency. It is also concluded that there was a considerable advance in the objectives and results of the PGI after being linked to the culture of innovation and the temporal challenges of the company, which has allowed the feedback of the innovation strategy. Finally, PGI is a channel for the creativity of employees and responds to part of the strategy of disseminating a culture of innovation in the quest to meet the objective in the organizational mission of being an innovative company. However, readjustments to the PGI are necessary in order to meet the speed of innovation required in the commercial bank, such as decentralization in the approval of ideas, editions with shorter intervals and the instrumentalization of feedbacks for unselected ideas. The limitations of this study are predominantly theoretical - associated with the culture of innovation, which can be investigated under other aspects not covered in this research - and methodological, associated with the research outline and the number of respondents. Future studies will be able to investigate the PGI of other banks in order to study similarities or differences between the Japanese and American models, and they will also be able to study the application of artificial intelligence to support the management of PGIs.

O método utilizado foi Estudo de Caso e a unidade de análise investigada foi um PGI de um banco comercial brasileiro, sob a lente da Teoria Evolucionária da Inovação. Os resultados indicam que PGI configura-se como um hub criativo de inovação e possui um modelo misto, com características dos modelos japonês e americano, contribuindo para a literatura. É executado a partir das fases de parametrização, coleta, seleção, desenvolvimento e de reconhecimento das ideias implementadas. Os resultados também indicam que o PGI foi reestruturado para apoiar a consolidação das tecnologias mobile e o avanço da bancarização digital, notadamente em resposta ao surgimento das fintechs. O PGI fomentou o intraempreendedorismo e o relacionamento entre os níveis operacional e diretivo da organização e estimulou a criação de núcleos de inovação, com o objetivo de gerir as ideias não implementadas e de dar celeridade à implementação de inovações departamentais, revelando a atual importância estratégica da inovação para a empresa. Os resultados confirmam a relação entre a cultura de inovação e a existência do PGI. Os determinantes da cultura de inovação - estratégia, estrutura, suporte e estímulo à inovação - influenciam o PGI. O determinante comunicação apresentou limitações gerenciais e foi identificado ponto de melhoria. O PGI investigado já gerou mais de dezoito mil ideias e os resultados são tanto tecnológicos, de inovações incrementais em produtos e processos, quanto organizacionais, além do fortalecimento da cultura de inovação. Uma das inovações em processos implementadas gerou ganhos de aproximadamente cinco bilhões de reais. É possível concluir que o PGI permite gerar inovações tecnológicas, predominantemente de processos e em nível incremental e cumpre os objetivos de manutenção de um ambiente interno receptivo a mudanças e voltado à eficiência operacional. Também se conclui que houve considerável avanço nos objetivos e resultados do PGI após a vinculação à cultura de inovação e aos desafios temporais da empresa, o que tem permitido a realimentação da estratégia de inovação. Por fim, o PGI configura-se como um canalizador da criatividade dos colaboradores e responde à uma parte da estratégia de disseminação de cultura de inovação na busca por atender ao objetivo na missão organizacional, de ser uma empresa inovadora. Contudo, são necessárias readaptações ao PGI, a fim de atender a velocidade de inovação necessária no banco investigado, como a descentralização na aprovação de ideias, edições com intervalos mais curtos e a instrumentalização dos feedbacks para ideias não selecionadas. As limitações deste estudo são predominantemente teóricas – associadas à cultura de inovação, que pode ser investigada sob outros aspectos não contemplados nesta pesquisa – e metodológicas, associadas ao recorte da pesquisa e a quantidade de entrevistados.
