The educational role of the library and the librarian: a study on the Rachel de Queiroz Library in Fortaleza/CE

Resumo: Aims to discuss the educational dimension of the library and the librarian. Accordingly, it presents a reflection on the role of libraries since the nineteenth century until the present day. Places the practice of mediation in reading and information as a key task of the librarian as an educator and agent of social transformation. The methodology was performed, firstly, a literature on the subject, and in the second step, was undertaken a field survey of stamp qualitative, in which he sought to observe and interact for a period of four months with users and run rivers of Rachel de Queiroz Library, located in Fortaleza/CE and maintained by Social Service of Trade Agreements (SESC). Data collection was conducted between May and September of 2010 and took a sample of 10 subjects of mixed age and both sexes.

En este sentido, presenta una reflexión sobre el papel de las bibliotecas desde el siglo XIX hasta nuestros días. Aborda la práctica de la lectura y la mediación de la información como una de las principales tareas del bibliotecario como educador y agente de transformación social. Como metodología, en primer lugar se realizó un levantamiento bibliográfico sobre el tema, y ​​luego se realizó una investigación de campo cualitativa, en la que se buscó observar e interactuar durante un período de cuatro meses con usuarios y empleados de la Biblioteca Raquel de Queiroz. ., ubicada en Fortaleza/CE y mantenida por el Servicio Social de Comercio (SESC). La recolección de datos se realizó entre mayo y septiembre de 2010 y contó con una muestra de 10 sujetos, de diferentes edades y de ambos sexos.Tem como objetivo principal discutir a dimensão educativa da biblioteca e do bibliotecário. Nesse sentido, apresenta uma reflexão sobre o papel das bibliotecas desde o século XIX até os dias de hoje. Aborda a prática da mediação da leitura e da informação como uma das principais tarefas do bibliotecário enquanto educador e agente de transformação social. Como metodologia foi realizada, primeiramente, um levantamento bibliográfico sobre o tema, e em seguida empreendeu-se uma pesquisa de campo de cunho qualitativo, na qual se buscou observar e interagir por um período de quatro meses com usuários e funcionários da Biblioteca Rachel de Queiroz, situada em Fortaleza/CE e mantida pelo Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC).
