Application of different categories of perception in the analysis of children's drawings about the environment

Resumo: This paper evaluated the environmental perceptions of young people and adults in basic education at a school in the city of Osasco, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. 84 students were investigated. For the purpose of data collection, students were asked to draw the environment as they understood it. For the analysis of the environmental perceptions, different categories of perceptions proposed by different authors were used. The results point to the predominance of a naturalistic perception, lacking the analysis of human action in the environment. The results reinforce the need to establish environmental education programs that can develop more critical perceptions regarding contemporary environmental problems.

Um total de 84 alunos foram investigados. Para a coleta de dados foi proposto para os alunos desenharem o que eles entendiam como meio ambiente. Para a análise referente às percepções ambientais foram utilizadas diferentes categorias de percepções propostas por diferentes autores. Os resultados apontam para a predominância de uma percepção naturalista, carecendo da análise da ação humana no meio ambiente.
