Prevalence and intensity of gastro-intestinal helminth infestations in Ovis aries from the State of Bahia

Resumo: The prevalence and intensity of gastro-intestinal helminth infestations in sheep, which carne from the region of Vitória da Conquista, State of Bahia, Brazil, were described. Examinations were made in the digestive tracts from 100 sheep approximately three months to one year old. The prevalence and intensity of infestations found are given bellow: Haemonchus contortus - 60% and 162; Trichostrongylus axei - 27% and 183; Trichostrongylus colubriformis - 40% and 652; Strongyloides papillosus - 40% and 652; Cooperia curticei - 20% and 465; Cooperia punctata - 2% and 20; Bunostomum tnigonocephalum - 6% and 33; Oesophagostomum columbianum - 46% and 18; Oesophagostomum venulosum - 2% and 55; Skrjabinema ovis - 25% and 27; Trichuris globulosa - 47% and 5; Trichuris ovis - 3% and 6; Moniezia expansa - 7%.

Foram examinados 100 tubos digestivos, de ovinos entre três meses a um ano de idade.
