Resumo:  This study aims to analyze cases of children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or have suspected such diagnosis, taking into account the importance of a differential diagnosis between autism and psychosis in this age group. It is observed from the history of the diagnosis of autism that ASD ended up homogenizing and absorbing other serious developmental disorders. In the condition of exclusion of childhood psychosis from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and the accelerated growth of the diagnosis of autism. It is hypothesized that, currently, within the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), autism is confused with psychosis and other serious disorders present in childhood and adolescence. The research was carried out at the Center for Psychosocial Care for Children and Adolescents (CAPSi) in Asa Norte – Brasília - Federal District (DF), using a sample of two cases. The case study was used as a research methodology, and for data analysis, Laurence Bardin's content analysis. From the results, it was concluded the importance of carrying out a diagnostic investigation based on listening to the subject and not only from the analysis of the observed behavior.

O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar casos de crianças e adolescentes que receberam diagnóstico de Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) ou possuem a suspeita do referido diagnóstico, levando em conta a importância de um diagnóstico diferencial entre autismo e psicose nessa faixa etária. Observa-se a partir da história do diagnóstico de autismo, que o TEA acabou por homogeneizar e absorver outros transtornos graves do desenvolvimento. Na condição de exclusão da psicose infantil do Manual de Diagnóstico e Estatística de Transtornos Mentais (DSM) e do acelerado crescimento do diagnóstico de autismo. Considera-se a hipótese de que, atualmente, dentro do diagnóstico do Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA), o autismo confunde-se com a psicose e outros transtornos graves presentes na infância e adolescência. A pesquisa foi realizada no Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Infantojuvenil (CAPSi) da Asa Norte – Brasília -  Distrito Federal (DF), utilizando amostra de dois casos. Utilizou-se como metodologia de pesquisa o estudo de caso, e para a análise de dados, análise de conteúdo de Laurence Bardin. A partir dos resultados, concluiu-se a importância de realizarmos uma investigação diagnóstica pautada na escuta do sujeito, buscando compreender o sujeito em relação e não somente a partir da análise de sinais e sintomas ditos observáveis.
