This article aims to discuss the issue of the socio-ecclesia insertion of the evangelical Lutheran worship in the space, looking for bases that support the current understanding about the function of the sacred space of worship in the communitarian and ecclesial spheres. With this discussion, it's intended to point out some erroneous and subversive ideas about the ritual-symbolic practice of the worship in spaces chosen for the meetings of the People of God. To do this, it will be sought in the comprehension there is about the church as an architectural space and in the contrapositions of classic sayings, like: "the church is the home of God", "the worship is performed everywhere", "the church and the world", "the place where you meet God", etc. the meaning of the ritual space of the worship in the communitarian and ecclesial spheres. The question to be answered is: What is the function of the space of worship as the place where God and the Christian community meet?
