Resumo: Introduction: With regard to the evolution of labor relations, it has become essential to develop actions that seek to reduce costs, improve and increase work productivity. In this way, ergonomics allows to know the relationship between man and his work environment. Objective: To analyze the work of military police officers who drive vehicles in the city of Fortaleza/Ceará, as well as outline ergonomic recommendations for a safer work exercise. Methods: Descriptive case study, qualitative in nature, using the method called Ergonomic Work Analysis (AET). Held in January 2020, with the Environmental Police Battalion, in the city of Fortaleza/Ceará. Data collection was performed through non-participant, systematic and structured observation in association with photographic records. Results: It was observed that factors intrinsic to the function performed by the police driver, such as accumulation of functions, overload imposed by the equipment used, long working hours and reduced internal space of the vehicle may be related to the appearance of musculoskeletal disorders. Conclusion: It was concluded that the inherent factors of the police profession favor the illness of the military police officer who works in a vehicle in Ceará. The AET is a useful tool for scientific knowledge, which aims to understand the peculiarities of the function of the police officer driving vehicles, as well as to outline individualized recommendations for the function.
