Conceptions about democracy and peace of future early childhood educators in Colombia

Resumo: This study seeks to analyze, by means of a non-experimental, descriptive research, based on the Modified Natural Semantic Networks technique and the Importance-Frequency Method, the conceptions of Peace and Democracy of 180 future child educators studying in the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Magdalena, selected non-probabilistically by convenience. The results show that their conception of Peace is based on the words: Love and Tranquility, and of Democracy on the defining words: Equality, Rights and Participation, a fact that indicates a distancing from the theoretical framework linked to these constructs. Finally, we are invited to question the role of future early childhood educators in the construction of peace and democracy.

Finally, we are invited to question the role of future early childhood educators in the construction of peace and democracy.Este estudio busca analizar, por medio de una investigación descriptiva, no experimental, que se apoya en la técnica Redes Semánticas Naturales Modificadas y en el Método Importancia Frecuencia, en lo que se refiere a las concepciones sobre paz y democracia de 180 futuros educadores infantiles que cursan el programa de Licenciatura en Educación de la Universidad del Magdalena, seleccionados no probabilísticamente por conveniencia. Los resultados muestran que su concepción sobre Paz se fundamenta en las palabras: amor y tranquilidad, así como sobre democracia en las definidoras: igualdad, derechos y participación, hecho que indica un distanciamiento con el marco teórico ligado a estos constructos. Finalmente, se invita a cuestionar el rol de los futuros educadores infantiles en la construcción de paz y democracia.Cette étude vise à analyser les conceptions que 180 futurs éducateurs de l’enfance, inscrits en licence d’éducation à l’Université de Magdalena et composant un échantillon non probabiliste de commodité, ont sur la paix et la démocratie. L’approche de la recherche est descriptive non expérimentale et s’appuie sur la technique des Réseaux Sémantiques Naturels Modifiés, ainsi que sur la méthode Iimportance Fréquence. Les résultats montrent que leur conception de la paix se base sur les mots amour et tranquillité et celle de la démocratie sur les mots égalité, droits et participation, ce qui indique une distanciation par rapport au référentiel théorique lié à ces concepts. La conclusion s’interrogera sur le rôle des futurs éducateurs de l’enfance dans la construction de la paix et de la démocratie.Este estudo tenta analisar, por meio de uma pesquisa descritiva, não experimental, que se baseia na técnica de Redes Semânticas Naturais Modificadas e no Método Importância-Frequência, as concepções sobre Paz e Democracia de 180 futuros educadores infantis que cursam Licenciatura em Educação da Universidade de Magdalena, selecionados de forma não probabilística por conveniência. Os resultados mostram que sua concepção de paz se fundamenta nas palavras amor e tranquilidade, e de democracia, nas palavras igualdade, direitos e participação, fato que indica um distanciamento do referencial teórico vinculado a esses construtos.
