Social networks and teacher professional development: New training spaces

Resumo: As the digitalization of society advances, there is growing consensus on the need for a broad view of teacher professional development. Digital social networks enable teachers to engage in meaningful relationships with each other, generating social learning when sharing experiences, ideas, concepts and considerations. For active teachers, learning through social media becomes a process that is embedded in their work and continues outside of school hours. In the scenario of choice and freedom provided by networks, new informal leaderships emerge among teachers as well as horizontal leaderships based on trust, recognition and appreciation of the other based on the practicality or usefulness of the teaching materials, proposals and shared ideas.

Las redes sociales digitales permiten a los docentes formar relaciones significativas entre sí, lo que genera aprendizaje social al compartir experiencias, ideas, conceptos y reflexiones. Para los docentes activos, el aprendizaje por medio de las redes sociales se convierte en un proceso integrado en su trabajo, y que continúa fuera del horario escolar. En el escenario de opción y libertad que brindan las redes, surgen nuevos liderazgos informales entre los profesores; liderazgos horizontales basados en la confianza, reconocimiento y valoración del otro a partir de la practicidad o utilidad de los materiales didácticos, propuestas e ideas compartidas.À mesure que la numérisation de la société progresse, on observe un consensus croissant à propos du besoin d’élargir la vision que l’on a du développement professionnel des enseignants. Les réseaux sociaux numériques permettent aux enseignants d’établir entre eux des relations significatives, ce qui entraine un apprentissage social basé sur le partage d’expériences, d’idées, de conceptions et de réflexions. Pour les enseignants en activité, l’apprentissage par le biais des réseaux sociaux est un processus intégré à leur travail qui se porsuit en dehors des heures de cours. Dans l’univers de choix et de liberté proposé par les réseaux, de nouveaux leaders émergent parmi les enseignants, de manière informelle et horizontale, dont les relations sont basées sur la confiance, la reconnaissance et l’appréciation des autres en fonction non seulement de l’aspect pratique ou utilitaire du matériel didactique, mais aussi des propositions et des idées partagées.À medida que a digitalização da sociedade avança, cresce o consenso sobre a necessidade de uma visão ampla do desenvolvimento profissional do professor. As redes sociais digitais possibilitam que os professores travem entre si relações significativas, o que gera a aprendizagem social, ao compartilhar experiências, ideias, concepções e reflexões. Para professores ativos, a aprendizagem por meio das redes sociais torna-se um processo inserido em seu trabalho, e que continua fora do horário escolar.
