Resumo: Introduction: Anxiety is a common disorder in children and young people and is associated with the areas of concern of these individuals, which include health, school, disasters and personal injury. The most common concerns are those related to friendships, classmates, school, health and performance. Objective: The present study aimed to analyze the clinical management of childhood anxiety. Methodology: A review of the book “Anxiety: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Children and Youth” by Paul Stallard. Considerations: The author approaches the anxiety theme from its basic definition, its effects and dysfunctional processes, as well as signals that it is a common disorder for children and young people. Throughout the work, the author recognizes the importance of the child's motivation to change their cognitions in relation to the problem faced, because only in this way, they will invest in an active process of change, otherwise feelings of insecurity and ambivalence may make treatment difficult. It also highlights an explanation of the basic cognitive model of anxiety and the application of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which involves three central domains, namely, cognitive, emotional and behavioral, and highlights the importance of the relationship between them. In a very objective way it exposes the formulation of the problem, besides offering the clinical hypothesis explicitly, it also determines the treatment plan as well. This work presents a support material based on scientific methodologies of professional clinical practice, through cognitive behavioral therapy, demonstrates clarity in the presentation of the theme, as well as plurality in its deepening. Thus, for professionals who intend to understand specific knowledge aimed at the clinical target audience for children and adolescents, the work clearly presents this connection. The study is notable for offering suggestions on CBT techniques for the care of children and young people with anxiogenic symptomatology, that is, it presents treatment details, case examples and learning tasks. Such techniques are characterized by their easy application, with the possibility of adaptation according to the needs and individuality of each patient. It is noteworthy that the work is not a step by step that must be followed strictly, but fulfills the function of subsidizing child care with strategies that can enhance the clinical adaptive effects, making care more effective.
