Resumo: This research aims to characterize the context of production of Brazilian theses and dissertations in environmental education (EE) that address the theme of recycling, concluded in the period from 1981 to 2016, as well as to analyze the political and pedagogical macro-trends present in these works, delimiting which political macro-tend of EE predominantly guides recycling research. In this study, using the Bank of theses and dissertations systematized by the Project “Environmental Education in Brazil - academic production - theses and dissertations” (EArte), 135 EE studies that address recycling were identified. From these studies, it was found that the recycling theme in Brazilian environmental education has been predominantly guided by market capitalism, making it necessary to stimulate a critical approach to the theme, through the reframing of political, social, economic and environmental issues.

En este estudio, utilizando el Banco de tesis y disertaciones sistematizado por el Proyecto “Educación Ambiental en Brasil - producción académica - tesis y disertaciones” (EArte), se identificaron 135 trabajos de EA que abordan el reciclaje. A partir de estos trabajos, se encontró que el abordaje del tema mencionado en la educación ambiental brasileña ha sido predominantemente guiado por el capitalismo de mercado, por lo que es necesario estimular un enfoque crítico del tema, a través del replanteamiento de cuestiones políticas, sociales, económicas y ambientales.A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo caracterizar o contexto de produção das teses e dissertações brasileiras de educação ambiental (EA) que abordam o tema da reciclagem, concluídas no período de 1981 a 2016, bem como analisar as macrotendências político-pedagógicas presentes nesses trabalhos, delimitando qual vertente da EA guia predominantemente as pesquisas que se voltam para a reciclagem. Neste estudo, utilizando-se do Banco de Teses e Dissertações, sistematizado pelo Projeto “Educação Ambiental no Brasil – produção acadêmica – teses e dissertações” (EArte), foram identificados 135 trabalhos de EA que abordam a reciclagem.
