Resumo: | Introduction: Breastfeeding (BF) is a protective action against infectious and chronic diseases in childhood, prevents illnesses and deaths in children aged up to five years and combats malnutrition. It reduces the risk of infant mortality due to common pathologies in the first hour of life and helps in the rehabilitation of the child against diseases. It is fundamental for the health of the newborn (NB) and essential in the treatment of those who were born prematurely, preterm or low birth weight. Objective: Systematize knowledge about Public Policies to promote breastfeeding in Brazil. Method: An Integrative Review of queries was carried out in the databases: BVS, PubMed, Medline, Lilacs and BENF-Enfermagem from January 2017 to June 2023. The Descriptors were used individually or combined. N=749 articles were rescued, of which, n=47 were submitted to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and n=08 articles were included in the analysis. Results: Public policies promote the qualitative and quantitative growth of milk banks; encourages and encourages the practice of EB for 6 months and continued for 2 years or more with healthy complementary food. Reduces neonatal and infant mortality; Promotes and protects the health of the child; guide the process of monitoring, surveillance, detection, prevention and mitigation of BF barriers. The National Breastfeeding Policy recommends preventing, recognizing and resolving the challenges present in the mother-child interaction, with regard to breastfeeding, such as obstacles and barriers. Conclusions: The articulation of Public Policies strengthens the various BF incentive actions developed in Brazil since the 1980s; promotes activities in the Expanded Clinic, trains workers to act on BF, strengthens breastfeeding and removes BF's physical barriers; assists, supports, empowers, trains and encourages breastfeeding women to continue BF for 2 years.. |
