Resumo: | Introduction: The need for medical specialization due to the complexity of health demands makes medical residencies the first option for postgraduate studies. This premise encourages the need for prior preparation for selection by medical students, whether for technical or non-technical stages. The interview, having a more subjective character, is a criterion to be worked with peculiarity, in order to impact the candidate's classification. Objective: To characterize the skills assessed in the interviews of medical residency selections. Method: Cross-sectional study, with a mixed approach, carried out based on a structured research script of recent national public notices for medical residency, published by educational institutions. Resmédica, a website with current information regarding medical residency notices, was used as the basis for the research. Results: Of the 351 notices, 182 (52%) contain the interview as an evaluation criterion. Technical skills (hard skills) and non-technical skills (soft skills) are assessed, such as curricular argumentation, reading and interpretation of the English language and critical-reflective reasoning. Conclusion: The skills assessed in the interviews of the medical residency selections are divided into technical skills, focused on the professional's knowledge and the quality of the curriculum presented, and non-technical skills, such as the ability to solve problems, critical-reflective reasoning, commitment, teamwork and the like. |

Introduction: The need for medical specialization due to the complexity of health demands makes medical residencies the first option for postgraduate studies.
