Sustainable Practices and Family Agriculture: case study of Coopapi Cooperated Farmers, Apodi / RN

Resumo: This paper aimed to identify the influence of associative experience on sustainable practices of family farmers of the Potiguar Beekeeping and Sustainable Rural Development Cooperative (Coopapi), Apodi – RN. The work assumed the descriptive character, to obtain information about a specific population, and which are linked to family farming and the qualitative method, to obtain additional information about farmers. Research has shown that associative and cooperative living drives sustainable practices of family farmers. The environmental theme is part of the repertoire of meetings between members, in view of the cultivation of requirements, farmers, sustainable practices that confer the certification of the production of organic products. The interviewed cooperative and its members stated that the end product design has procedures that can be characterized as sustainable, an example of the understanding that soil burns, pesticide use, and water waste are not consistent with family medical practice and that offers the production of organics.

O trabalho assumiu caráter descritivo, por buscar obter informações sobre uma determinada população, cujos sujeitos são vinculados à agricultura familiar, e método qualitativo, por buscar extrair informações de agricultores(as). A pesquisa revelou que a vivência associativa e cooperativa impulsiona práticas sustentáveis dos agricultores familiares. A temática ambiental faz parte do repertório das reuniões entre cooperados, tendo em vista que o cultivo de orgânicos exige, dos agricultores, práticas sustentáveis que lhes conferem a certificação da produção de orgânicos.
