Women who struggle: Peripheral communities as a space for personal and collective transformation in the light of biblical feminism

This article objects to give visibility to the struggle of women, inserted in social spaces, from peripheral communities in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre/RS, based on the feminist reading of the Bible. It wants to bring out the social problems that affect these women, aggravated by the patriarchal power and action that continues to oppress and silence female voices, in which, historically, they have been denied effective participation in political, social, economic and religious spaces. There is an urgent need to be heard and to resume their lives, sometimes subordinated by a “modern” society that discriminates and weakens their daily struggles. In this perspective, it is understood that the peripheral organized communities, present themselves as carriers of opportunities, so that spaces of welcome, listening and entrepreneurial activities are created in a way that allows the personal and collective emancipation of women. This is a project developed by the Sisters of Divine Providence, which has a technical team made up of educators, center coordinators, psychologist, social worker and volunteers.
