Resumo: Objective: to describe the health care described in the literature for the population deprived of liberty in Brazil. Method: integrative review of the literature in which searches were carried out in the LILACS, MEDLINE and BDENF databases, considering as inclusion criteria primary studies available in full, published in Portuguese and in the period from 2018 to 2023. Exclusion criteria: duplicate studies, letter to the editor, editorials, summaries published in event annals, personal opinions, dissertations, theses, book chapters and institutional manuals. Results: fourteen articles were selected, originating from Brazilian research and published in national journals. After full reading and analysis of the studies, four thematic categories were constructed, namely: health care in the prison context, women's health in the prison system, specific health care and directing infectious diseases and the role of health professionals in the prison system. Conclusion: Health care for the Private Population in Freedom is a public health problem, it occurs in a precarious, fragmented, punctual manner and aimed at controlling signs and symptoms.
