CHILD LABOR: HOW TO PROTECT THE BASIC LAW OF PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN A VULNERABILITY SITUATION

This research aimed to carry out a study on the exploitation of child labor and harmful consequences that such a situation leads to the formation of this social group. This work has made a discussion about the historical context of the theme, including the concept of child labor and state legislative protection, as well as the national history and the current scenario of child labor. In addition, it was reflected on the difficulties in the fight against child labor, with emphasis on economic factors, the connection between lack of access to education and poverty, as well as the Brazilian society's thinking and the lack of empathy with the subject. Subsequently, the 182nd OIT Convention and the social vulnerability of girls were analyzed. It was concluded through bibliographical and empirical research that there are several factors that foment child labor, especially the lack of access to education, associated with poverty, that lead children to a cyclical context of lack of dignity and opportunities to ascend as a person with rights in society. Finally, this study proved that there is a need for more attention from the state and civil society to the subject, in order to seek the eradication of child labor, by creating effective public policies, strict laws, campaigns and educational projects in relation to the chain's production of consumer items and child vulnerability.
