“Here is a male house”! Trans youth and socio-education

This article aims to give visibility to an issue little discussed both in the scientific environment and in the scope of public policies. From the entry of a transgender teenager in a unit of fulfillment of socio educational measure of the Foundation of Social Assistance of Rio Grande Sul (Fase-RS), destined exclusively to cisgender men (adolescents and young adults) aged 12 to 21 years. Focused on Rosa’s trajectory, the research is characterized as a case study from which we question how the institutions and laws affected the young woman’s socio-educational trajectory. There was a lack of a specific program for the LGBT population in national politics and in local institutions, which results in the lack of technical guidance from the teams to welcome these young people, giving scope for all types of discretion.
