Resumo: The present work consists of pointing out ways that contribute to teacher education and the exercise of pedagogical practices that collaborate with the teaching / learning of students with intellectual disabilities in the regular school of common education, guiding respect for differences and the right of access and Permanence in school, with quality education as recommended by the laws that guide Brazilian education; Presents a synthesis of the socio-historical process of inclusive education; Highlights the main types of intellectual disability, cause, and diagnosis, guiding, how should the teacher act in the classroom in dealing with students with intellectual disabilities; Shows the importance of empathy in the teacher / student relationship; Presents suggestions of possible practices to be used in the classroom, seen as: fundamental key to the understanding of the human associative life, that is, of the community experiences that are established in this locus
