The goal of this study is to investigate how the official documents: Foreign Language National Curriculum Parameters (Brazil, 1998), National Curriculum Guidelines for High School (Brazil 2006) and Common National Curriculum basis (Brazil 2017) approach the orality teaching in English language and what are the implications brought by them. The theoretical basis will take into account the development of English language teaching in Brazil followed by considerations on the socio-historical-cultural perspective of teaching-learning and oral production and comprehension. Besides that the theoretical perspectives of teaching-learning found in the documents will be presented and finally there will be an analysis and discussion about oral comprehension and production in foreign language found in the Foreign Language National Curriculum Parameters and oral comprehension and production found in the National Curriculum Guidelines for High School and Common National Curriculum basis
