In order to help contain the abuse and exploitation of children around the world, the so-called “child soldiers” were typified by the UN, through the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in 2000 at the General Assembly. of the United Nations, and was understood as the use of the work of individuals under the age of 18, directly or indirectly in armed conflicts. This event is widely debated within the scope of human rights and international security. Therefore, this work aims, through case studies, to explore the dynamics and realities that involve the phenomenon of child soldiers in international armed conflicts, regular or irregular, taking as the main basis of analysis of this research, the recruitment of children -soldiers in the Islamic State, with the help of the occurrence of this phenomenon in other extremist armed entities that have already operated or still operate across the globe. Thus, the motivations emerged with the intention of seeking to understand their actions and consequences from their origin, that is, social motivations, economic and social situation, location and psychological state, to the way in which they are recruited and reinserted into the peace process, having their childhood and rights reestablished according to the logic of Children's Rights. Through this research I seek to understand how child soldiers in general, depending on the role they perform and the place they came from, can be considered victims or perpetuators of atrocities by the authorities and the international community, who use war as a valid political instrument without the commitment and fulfillment of the State’s role in child protection
