Resumo: Introduction: Studying the impact of tinnitus in a subject's life, starting from the consequences in their functionality, will be possible through the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), created and published by the World Health Organization (WHO). The ICF prioritizes assessing the impact of the symptom/disease on the subject's functional life and not only focusing on the pathology. Objective: verifying the applicability of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) to classify individuals with tinnitus, through the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the Tinnitus Functional Index (TFI). Method: Prospective cross-sectional descriptive study, performed in 40 subjects with normal hearing experiencing tinnitus. All subjects underwent an audiological evaluation and answered the Tinnitus Functional Index Questionnaire (TFI) and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The data was submitted to a descriptive analysis and to Pearson’s correlation analysis. Results: The data analysis showed regarding the TFI: Regarding the body functions component of the ICF: the data shows that all patients reported impact of tinnitus in intrusive function (b2400), 90.0% of the patients reported impact of tinnitus in the Emotional function (b1522), 80.0% of the patients reported impact for the Sleep function (b1343). The Auditory Function (b1560) was the least impacted, being reported by 42.5% of patients. Regarding the activities and participation component of the ICF, these are the codes: 92.5% of patients reported impact of tinnitus in the Sense of Control function (d2409), 62.5% of patients reported impact of tinnitus in the Cognitive function (d1608), 57.5% of patients reported impact of tinnitus for the Quality of Life function (d7101), the emotional subscale was not analyzed, as the instruments used did not enable such analysis. When describing the ICF codes according to the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), it was only possible to analyze the body functions component (b1528), 32.5% reported a moderate discomfort regarding their tinnitus. Conclusion: The objective of this study was achieved, but with reservations. It was possible to categorize the impact of tinnitus in a subject population with normal hearing according to the ICF criteria, allowing their singularization. However, the used instruments, VAS and TFI, are only partially applicable to determine tinnitus consequences in the subject's functionality, as they do not enable the evaluation of all ICF components, such as body structures and environmental factors

Todos foram submetidos a avaliação audiológica e responderam ao Questionário Índice Funcional do Zumbido (IFZ) e a Escala Visual Analógica (EVA). Os dados foram submetidos a análise descritiva e de correlação de Pearson. Resultados: A análise dos dados mostrou no que diz respeito ao IFZ: Em relação ao componente funções do corpo da CIF: os dados mostram que todos os pacientes relataram impacto do zumbido na função Intrusiva (b2400), 90,0% dos pacientes relataram impacto do zumbido na função Emocional (b1522), 80,0% dos pacientes relataram impacto para a função Sono (b1343). Observou-se que a função Auditiva (b1560) foi a menos impactada com um relato de 42,5% dos pacientes. Em relação ao componente atividades e participação da CIF, seguem códigos: 92,5% dos pacientes relataram impacto do zumbido na função Senso de controle (d2409), 62,5% dos pacientes relataram impacto do zumbido na função Cognitiva (d1608), 57,5% dos pacientes relataram impacto do zumbido para a função Qualidade de vida (d7101), a subescala emocional não foi analisada, uma vez que, os instrumentos utilizados não permitiram tal análise. Ao descrever os códigos CIF segundo a Escala Visual Analógica (EVA), foi possível analisar apenas o componente funções do corpo (b1528), 32,5% relataram um incômodo moderado em relação ao seu zumbido. Conclusão: O objetivo do presente estudo foi alcançado, porém com ressalvas. Foi possível categorizar o impacto do zumbido em uma população de sujeitos com audição normal segundo os critérios da CIF permitindo a singularização dos mesmos.
