This paper is intended for detailed analysis of a topic of great importance, since shipping is undoubtedly the oldest means of transport of civilization and the most widely used for transporting loads, especially at the international level, but, yet, it has been causing a lot of controversy and differences, given that its rules are not standardized worldwide.Initially, a brief consideration about the general rules applied to transport contracts will be carried out, with emphasis on the transportation of things, whose species is that the interest for application and understanding of shipping.They would then be covered maritime transport contracts and liability of the carrier in the event of damage and / or loss of goods, from a broad and in-depth study of the doctrine and jurisprudence in order to verify the view of many scholars and the most recent judgments handed down by our courts face the issues presented
