O comportamento do pequeno investidor na Bolsa de Valores brasileira durante a crise do Covid-19: uma perspectiva da economia comportamental

The spread of Covid-19 has impacted the lives of millions of people and, like the virus, uncertainty has spread rapidly across the planet, generating social chaos and volatility in the capital markets. The present study investigated, through concepts of behavioral economics, which consider empirical data and realistic assumptions in their analyses, the behavior of the individual investor on the Brazilian Stock Exchange in the face of large fluctuations, or more specifically the huge increase in the number of CPFs registered at B3 in a period marked by huge falls due to the disease. Through other studies on the behavior of this individual investor in different crises and data from B3, it was verified that sometimes strong entry cycles of these investors occur simultaneously with periods of intense market fluctuation. Furthermore, the Prospect Theory that underpins the hypothetical value function and some behavioral ideas that underlie heuristics and biases are able to provide further insights into how these mental shortcuts can contribute to the maintenance, but also the rise of new entrants in periods of instability
