Resumo: It is necessary to understand aging as a natural process, which occurs from the birth of a person to his death; old age, with the formal mark of sixty in Western countries. But it becomes even more necessary to return, here, to the question of the so-called 'myth of asexual old age'. What asexual old age is one talking about? Of people sixty or older? How many more? Taking as a basis for our reflection some national and international publications on sexuality in old age, this study aims to describe and analyze the scientific production on the subject, linked to the issue of quality of life. The present study was developed in accordance with the methodological procedures of a systematic review. At the beginning, a total of 2,670 articles were obtained, and, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten articles were included and analyzed. From this study, it is evident that sexuality can be studied from different angles, needing to be understood in its relationship with health, well-being and quality of life.

Pero se hace aún más necesario volver, aquí, a la cuestión del llamado 'mito de la vejez asexuada'. ¿De qué vejez asexuada se habla? ¿De personas de sesenta años o más? ¿Cuántos más? Tomando como base para nuestra reflexión algunas publicaciones nacionales e internacionales sobre la sexualidad en la vejez, este estudio tiene como objetivo describir y analizar la producción científica sobre el tema, vinculada a la cuestión de la calidad de vida. El presente estudio fue desarrollado de acuerdo con los procedimientos metodológicos de una revisión sistemática. Al principio se obtuvieron un total de 2.670 artículos y, tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, se incluyeron y analizaron diez artículos. A partir de este estudio, se evidencia que la sexualidad puede ser estudiada desde diferentes ángulos, necesitando ser entendida en su relación con la salud, el bienestar y la calidad de vida.Faz-se necessário compreender o envelhecimento como um processo natural, que ocorre desde o nascimento de uma ser pessoa até sua morte; a velhice, tendo como marco formal os sessenta anos em países ocidentais. Mas se torna mais necessário ainda retomar, aqui, a questão do propalado ´mito da velhice assexuada`. De que velhice assexuada se estaria falando? Das pessoas com sessenta anos ou mais? Quantos mais? Tomando como base para nossa reflexão algumas publicações nacionais e internacionais sobre sexualidade na velhice, objetiva este estudo descrever e analisar a produção científica referente ao tema, sendo este articulado ao da qualidade de vida. O presente estudo foi desenvolvido em conformidade com os procedimentos metodológicos de uma revisão sistemática. No início, obteve-se um total de 2.670 artigos, sendo que, após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, dez artigos foram incluídos e analisados.
