Stricto Sensu Programs on Human Aging in Brazil: training and qualification of teachers

Resumo: The purpose of this text is to training and titling of the teachers of the stricto sensu Programs in Human Aging and Gerontology in Brazil. Method: This is a quantitative study with 184 permanent staff from the 12 stricto sensu Programs in Human Aging and Gerontology in Brazil, using the Lattes Platform database and the Program pages. The data were collected from October to November 2018. Data were entered and analyzed in statistical software. Results: Teachers are trained in 30 different undergraduate courses, the highest percentage being 28, with a medical degree and 151 in the health area. Of the 184 teachers, 118 have masters degrees and doctorates in the areas of Health Sciences, followed by 18 in Biological Sciences; 14 in Linguistics, Literature and Arts; 13 in the Human Sciences; 9 in Applied Social Sciences; 6 in Others; 5 in Exact and Earth Sciences; 2 in Engineering and none in Agrarian Sciences, from the CNPq Knowledge Area. Conclusion: The 12 stricto sensu Programs on Human Aging in Brazil have 184 permanent teachers. Most, 28, are of the medical course, 20 of physical education, 19 of psychology, 17 of nursing and 17 of physiotherapy, 14 of nutrition, 12 of biology and 10 of pharmacy. Also the majority, 118 are from the area of knowledge of the Health Sciences, followed by 27 from the Human Sciences and 12 from the Biological Sciences. Even with a predominance of training and qualification in the Health Sciences, the Programs demonstrate an interdisciplinary character in the composition of permanent teachers and are in line with the recommendations of the Interdisciplinary Area of CAPES, with the possibility of producing appropriate knowledge about the aging process.

Método: es un estudio cuantitativo con 184 profesores del personal permanente de los 12 Programas stricto sensu en Envejecimiento Humano y Gerontología en Brasil, utilizando la base de datos de la Plataforma Lattes y las páginas del Programa. La recopilación de datos tuvo lugar de octubre a noviembre de 2018. Los datos se ingresaron y analizaron mediante software estadístico. Resultados: Los 12 programas stricto sensu sobre Envejecimiento Humano en Brasil cuentan con 184 docentes permanentes. Los maestros están capacitados en 30 cursos de pregrado diferentes, el porcentaje más alto, 28, con capacitación en medicina y 151 están en el área de la salud. De los 184 profesores, 118 tienen maestrías y doctorados en las áreas de Ciencias de la Salud, seguidos por 18 en Ciencias Biológicas; 14 en Lingüística, Letras y Artes; 13 en Humanidades; 9 en Ciencias Sociales Aplicadas; 6 en otros; 5 en Ciencias Exactas y de la Tierra; 2 en Ingeniería y ninguna en Ciencias Agrarias, del área de conocimiento CNPq. Conclusión: La mayoría, 28, son de la escuela de medicina, 20 de educación física, 19 de psicología, 17 de enfermería y 17 de fisioterapia, 14 de nutrición, 12 de biología y 10 de farmacia. La mayoría también, 118 son del área de Ciencias de la Salud, seguidos por 27 de las Humanidades y 12 de las Ciencias Biológicas. Incluso con un predominio de la capacitación y las calificaciones en Ciencias de la Salud, los Programas demuestran un carácter interdisciplinario en la composición de maestros permanentes y están en línea con las recomendaciones del Área Interdisciplinaria de CAPES, con la posibilidad de producir un conocimiento consistente sobre el proceso de envejecimiento.O objetivo deste texto é conhecer as áreas de formação e de titulação dos docentes dos Programas stricto sensu em Envelhecimento Humano e Gerontologia do Brasil. É um estudo quantitativo com 184 docentes dos quadros permanentes dos 12 Programas stricto sensu em Envelhecimento Humano e Gerontologia do Brasil, com utilização da base de dados da Plataforma Lattes e páginas dos Programas. A coleta dos dados ocorreu no período de outubro a novembro de 2018. Os dados foram digitados e analisados em software de estatística. Como resultados: os 12 Programas stricto sensu em Envelhecimento Humano do Brasil possuem 184 docentes permanentes. Os docentes possuem formação em 30 diferentes cursos de graduação, sendo o maior percentual, 28, com formação em medicina; e 151 são da área da saúde. Dos 184 docentes, 118 possuem mestrados e doutorados nas áreas das Ciências da Saúde, seguido de 18 nas Ciências Biológicas; 14 na Linguística, Letras e Artes; 13 nas Ciências Humanas; 9 em Ciências Sociais Aplicadas; 6 em Outros; 5 em Ciências Exatas e da Terra; 2 nas Engenharias e nenhum em Ciências Agrárias, da Área de conhecimento do CNPq. Como conclusão: a maioria, 28, são do curso de medicina, 20 da educação física, 19 da psicologia, 17 da enfermagem e 17 da fisioterapia, 14 da nutrição, 12 da biologia e 10 da farmácia. Também a maioria, 118 são da área do conhecimento das Ciências da Saúde, seguido de 27 das Ciências Humanas e 12 das Ciências Biológicas.
