Resumo: The study aims to verify the association between anthropometric indicators and comorbidities in elderly people living in long-term institutions. It was identified that the body mass index is associated with high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, cognitive decline and unintentional weight loss. Thus, the importance of nutritional monitoring with the elderly is emphasized, in order to assist in the control of body mass.

Thus, the importance of nutritional monitoring with the elderly is emphasized, in order to assist in the control of body mass.El estudio tiene como objetivo verificar la asociación entre indicadores antropométricos y comorbilidades en personas mayores que viven en centros de atención a largo plazo. Se identificó que el índice de masa corporal se asocia con hipertensión arterial, diabetes mellitus, deterioro cognitivo y pérdida de peso involuntaria. Así, se enfatiza la importancia del seguimiento nutricional con los ancianos, con el fin de ayudar en el control de la masa corporal. O estudo objetiva verificar associação entre os indicadores antropométricos e comorbidades em pessoas idosas residentes em instituições de longa permanência. Foi identificado que o índice de massa corpórea está associado a hipertensão arterial, diabetes mellitus, declínio cognitivo e perda de peso não intencional.
