Resumo: This article aims to discuss the access to primary sources in the writing of history, taking into account the digitalization of archives catalogues around the world. Thus, it discusses the availability of documentation on the internet and the inherent limitations behind the mediation exercised by the digital technology. Reflection on working with digitized historical sources is necessary, given their immateriality. Keywords: digital humanities; historical research; digital archives.

Por lo tanto, se aborda la disponibilidad de la documentación a través de internet y los límites inherentes a la mediación de la tecnología digital. Es necesaria la reflexión sobre el trabajo con las fuentes históricas digitalizadas, dado su carácter inmaterial. Palabras clave: humanidades digitales; investigación histórica; archivos digitales.Este artigo procura discutir o acesso às fontes históricas para a escrita da história tendo em vista a digitalização dos acervos em todo o mundo. Assim, discorre-se sobre a disponibilidade da documentação através da internet e os limites inerentes à mediação da tecnologia digital. É necessária a reflexão sobre o trabalho com as fontes históricas digitalizadas, em razão de sua imaterialidade.
