Resumo: We evaluate whether real factors associated with rising relative incomes can help explaining the trend of real appreciation in the Iberian economies. Overall, for the last three decades, the real exchange rate was found to move in line with the per capita factor endowments, but the period 1989-1992 in Portugal appears to be an exception.
