The Angolan Government is developing mechanisms to reduce gender inequalities in the workplace, breaking down cultural and traditional barriers, such as the woman?s nature of being a wife, mother, caretaker and housewife. Thus, the objective of this work was to understand the impact of the glass ceiling effect on the labour context of Angolan women. As specific objectives, the aim was to identify whether Angolan women perceive discrimination in the workplace, whether there is a gender pay gap, whether there is a balance between private life and work, and whether there are differences between public and private organizations. A basic or generic qualitative study was carried out, eleven women were interviewed, and Angolan women working in public or private companies were chosen as the criterion for insertion. The data collected was analysed according to the techniques of content analysis. The results showed that most of the interviewees had difficulties in situating themselves in the question, taking into account what they perceive as discrimination, in other words, it cannot be discrimination something that is already naturalized; there were differences between public and private organizations and it was noted that there is a greater segregation of women, which refers them to the condition that they have to choose one of the two spheres (family or work) and all the interviewees affirmed to have gender wage equality . It can be concluded that the "glass ceiling effect" affects the labour context of Angolan women in a "soft" way, and it is not possible to "be affected severely". |
